Happy Father's Day!

Ryebread was sure to give his daddy a great father's day this year! It's the last time he'll have daddy all to himself. Next year, he'll have to share with Baby #2!

Crabs and Baseball

Some of the people Nate works with decided to organize a get together at the Cal Ripken stadium in Aberdeen. They have a crab deck, where you can get all you can eat crabs (and hot dogs, hamburgers, corn and AWESOME cookies) while you enjoy the game. Ryan enjoyed the hot dogs more than the crab - yep, we're bad parents and gave our one year old shellfish. Oops. But he had a great time. He walked around every now and then and even got to take in some of the game. "Ball!!" :) By the end of the night, Rye was in his PJ's and it was time to hit the hay. One last lovey picture though of Daddy and Rye in front of the field.

Poor Ryebread...

Ryan had to get his first flu test done today. Someone else at daycare had the flu and he was showing a few of the symptoms, so off to A.I. we went. Flu tests for kids are no fun. They stuck a long skinny tube up his nose, sprayed in some saline and then sucked everything out...THREE TIMES! Rye was not a happy camper at all. To make matters worse, we both had to wear masks while we were there in case he did have the flu. The picture below is blurry, but he looks so darn cute, even in a mask! He was such a little trooper and, luckily, ended up not having the flu!

Greek Festival and Rye's First Bouncy Experience

For the past several years, we've made going to the Greek Festival in Wilmington a tradition. Even last year, when Rye was just a few months old, he was there taking in the sights, sounds and smells. Daddy was away this year, so Erin and I kept the tradition alive with Ryebread. It was SO HOT that day...and muggy. It didn't take long for Rye to get a little restless. So we decided to give him a chance to be free. We stuck him in a bouncy tent for the first time ever! He was a little intimidated at first. He was in there with four rowdy little girls and just didn't seem to be too sure of the situation.

Rather than burn off some energy, he just hung out on the side, soaking in the fun the little girls were having.

Eventually he made his way over to us on the side...and had a look of pure terror in his eyes.

We started playing with him through the mesh and it didn't take long for his killer smile to emerge and for his mischievous side to come out.

Eventually, it was time to get out, so all the girls left giving Ryan a few fleeting seconds to try and climb the slide steps and have a little fun!

The list of words continues to grow

Since Ryan's baby book doesn't seem to be as easily accessible as this blog, this must be a good a place as any to continue documenting some of the important milestones. Added to the previous list of words Rye is saying, are the following:
  • Bubbles
  • Up
  • Down
  • Baby
  • Puppy
  • Bailey
  • Go (sometimes "Where'd it" precedes Go, but in a cute baby accent)
  • Hi
  • Bye Bye
  • Thank you (ok, only once - but it was the cutest thing EVER)
