The little things...

It really is the little things in life that make you smile. Ryan got a very cool balloon last night when we went out to dinner. And though he didn't get to play with it when we got home, it was first on his agenda when he woke up this morning. Bailey had been eyeing it up too, but for very different reasons. One of them wants to run through the house with it screaming, the other wants to see how quickly it can be destroyed (both of those sound like Ryebread though, huh?). Anyway, Ryan did a very nice job of cautiously letting Bailey sniff his new balloon and Bailey did a very nice job of not popping it in Ryan's face.

Instead, Bailey nudged it with his nose a few times, causing giggles of joy from Rye. Ah, the giggles. Yep, sometimes it's the little things that make you smile.

Running out of room!

Who knows how we're going to function with two kids, bailey and luggage on weekends we head up to PA...it seems it's already getting tight. We stopped at Babies R Us on the way up north to get a travel system for Laura's baby shower and had to somehow fit that into the CR-V. After a little maneuvering, it seemed the only way it would work is if Bailey hopped into the back seat with Ryebread! They got along very well, despite the close quarters.

Almost made it...

We thought we'd sneak in a full day of daycare, despite Ryebread's pathetic-ness this morning. Not so much. But, despite being "sick" he sure was able to ham it up while we waited for the doctor!

Our pathetic peanut

Ryebread was barely eating this weekend and by Sunday he was pretty cranky to boot. We chalked it up to more teeth breaking through, but when he woke up this morning we knew there was something fishy going on. There was no other way to describe Rye other than pathetic. Normally he's very chipper in the morning, goofy even. Playing keep away in his crib and running through the house. This morning he would barely move. Just laid in his crib moaning until I finally picked him up. Then he cried and went limp in my arms like even crying was too much work. I finally got him a teether and laid him down on our bed...my poor pathetic peanut.

We struggled about whether to take him in to daycare, but he didn't have a fever and we got him to eat some food, so we figured he was just having a case of the Monday's. Well - the call came in around noon. Rye was a mess, had bad diarrhea and needed to be picked up.

Never figured out what the problem was. Those big teeth in there must be causing havoc for the rest of Ryebread's body!

Ryebread and the New Shed

Well, because we're frugal and like getting our hands dirty, the Bachman's embarked on another adventure this weekend and decided to buy a put-it-together-yourself shed. With the help of Uncle Mike, our friend Brandon and, of course, Ryebread, we were able to enjoy the fruits of our labor by dusk on Sunday.
Ryebread did a great job as foreman. He supervised the entire project and even helped out by digging a little and trying to figure out the hydraulic floor lift.

One final inspection before dinner time. So far so good! We'll post the final project once we get the shutters up too (only so much sunlight in a day!).

Ryebread is Muppet Baby of the Week!

Every classroom at Ryan's daycare has a different "theme" for the kids. For instance, in Room 1, Ryan was a honey bee! Now, in Room 3, Rye is a Muppet Baby.

They started having a "Muppet Baby of the Week" and this week - it's Ryebread! Part of being Muppet Baby of the Week is to share some your favorite things with the other kids in the class. Well, why only share it with the class when we can share it with the whole world!? So, here are some of Rye's favorite things.

Ryan's Favorite Toy: Balls!

Any size, any color, if it's round, Ryebread loves it and will play with it and (sometimes) throw it or roll it. Even if it's not technically a ball (like a peach or a tomato, etc.).

Ryan's Favorite Snack: Animal Crackers!
He's even found Grandma's stash and will try to sneak them out to have for lunch and dinner when we visit. He certainly can't have them as a meal, but he's allowed to have them as a snack as often as he wants (as long as it's snack time)!

Ryan's Favorite Book: The Going to Bed Book.

We read this book to Ryebread every night. In fact, Mommy and Daddy could read the Going to Bed Book without even turning a page! He loves to act out some of the parts: "They take a bath in one big tub, with soap all over - Scrub, scrub, scrub!" "With some on top and some beneath, they brush and brush and brush their teeth!" "And when the moon is on the rise, they all go up to exercise!" Sigh...yep. We know the whole book.

Ryan's Favorite Color: Blue.

We think it is his favorite color because it's the first color he learned to say. And it's his default answer when you ask him what color something is. But he also throws in 'low (for yellow) every now and then to keep things interesting.
So - there ya have it. Some little (or some well) known facts about Ryebread!

E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!

Ryebread went to his first (of many, I'm sure) Eagles Training Camp this weekend. He had a blast! He got to see the Eagles players up close and personal and spend some QT with Daddy, Mommy, Nanna and Aunt Sherry. Amidst the excitment of football, there was also other cool stuff there for kids. Rye was a little small to try and kick a field goal or run through blow-up tackle dummies, but he wasn't too little to pet a State Police horse! He loved the horse and didn't want to leave him. We think he thought he was an oversized Bailey :)

All that fun and excitement made Ryebread a hungry boy. We got some chicken fingers and french fries to munch on in the shade and Ryan was such a little man! Dipped his fries (one at a time!) in the BBQ sauce and made sure to not get any on his white pants. Sigh...he makes us so proud!
