Big brother in training

So if you read this blog, chances are pretty high you already know Ryebread is going to be a big brother! Even more exciting is that he is going to have a little sister! In preparation for this big life change in the Bachman house, we've been trying hard to bring up "Baby Lindsey" whenever possible.

It's obvious Ryan loves the baby already. He likes to kiss mommy's belly and say hi and night night to the baby and he's even getting pretty good at saying Lindsey.

His awareness of the baby wasn't completely apparent, though, until this morning. Rye's very first boppy (it's a little baby boppy to help them do tummy time or to prop them up when they're lying on the floor) was out in the living room because the place where it was being stored got re-classified as a toy chest. Ryan picked it up and said "baby!" Mommy said, "that's right, that's for the baby. Good job, Rye!" And he smiled and did his happy dance and said baby again and brought the boppy over and put it on mommy's tummy.

Already, he's looking out for his little sister. He's going to be a great big brother.

Ocean City Beach Trip

Ryebread got his first experience of the Ocean City beach house this weekend and although the weather started out fairly crappy (torrential downpours), it cleared up quick enough and long enough to have a great time! A few highlights below.

First, the departure from home, which included down pouring rain and a good book.

Then, mid-ride down, some lovely zipper marks from being ill-positioned while sleeping.

Ryebread's best Baywatch impersonation.

And another sleepy shot - this time, post-trip.

Boy toys and the power of "The Tongue"

While there are many traits Ryan is sure to have inherited from both Mommy and Daddy, one of the most undeniable daddy-inherited traits to date is the almighty tongue. With it's magical powers, the tongue allows seemingly impossible tasks to occur with ease, just by sticking it out! Need to locate a nail in a dark corner? Just stick out your tongue! Need to draw a straight line, freehand? Just stick out your tongue! Need to lift a remote control car with one hand? Just stick out your tongue! Ah the endless possibilities and opportunities for Ryebread because of this wonderful trait he inherited from his dad.

However, in the interest of full-disclosure, sometimes sheer strength is enough to do things without the added power of the tongue. Such a big, strong man!
