Grandma Savacool's Birthday Weekend

We went up to PA this weekend to visit with the grandparents and to celebrate Grandma Savacool's birthday! Ryan loves spending time in PA because, though mommy and daddy love Rye very much, there is only two of us and in PA there are a TON more people around to shower him with love and attention - especially his friend Ashley (Ashey, as Ryebread likes to call her).

Rye was very brave and joined Grandpa in Heather and Ashley's pool. He didn't venture far from the edge and hung on very tight, but stayed calm long enough to snap a photo!

After some fun in the sun, Mommy let Rye eat a peach (whole - not cut up into pieces!). He did good, but was making a mess, so she tried to teach him how to make the slurrrrp noise to suck in the juices. He thought that was pretty silly.

Earlier that weekend, Rye had his first taste of beets (even though Mommy thinks they're gross). He did good at first, but must have gotten full from the Mac n Cheese, because pretty soon he was turning his head in protest. Daddy thought it was funny that Ryebread had noodles all over his chest and tummy!

In a strange change of roles, Ryan decided to be a gentleman and let Ashley ride his scooter. He even tried to help her a long and gave her a good push! Such a good little man...

A Visit with Grace

Ryebread got a visit today from Uncle TJ, Aunt Eileen and the adorable Grace! Seriously, isn't she so cute?!

Grace and Ryan were having an absolute ball with one another. It was so much fun to see them both up and walking around. Rye showed Grace how to push his bubble mower for optimum bubble action.
Later, Grace was able to convince Ryebread that playing in the water was a lot of fun! But she wasn't as successful with convincing him that pouring water on your head was just as fun...oh well.

After a fun afternoon in the sun, the party was brought inside and the two of them decided it was time to hug it out. It was an absolute great visit!

Ryebread's Eating Cereal!

With a bowl and milk and a spoon and everything!

It suprisingly wasn't even that messy. He was very calculated and cautious (as always) with his movements and got a majority of the cereal in his mouth (or bib - we'll take it!).

Gotta love church carnivals...

Don't gotta love the rain!!

Against what may have been our better judgement, the Bachman's joined Erin for some fun in Bear at a local church carnival. Not long after we arrived, the skies opened up and we found ourselves hurdled under a tent, needing to amuse ourselves and, of course, amuse Ryebread.

We're a very sophisticated family, in case you hadn't noticed.

The rain let up for a few minutes (literally), so Daddy finally got to take Ryan on a ride! They chose the carousel. But, unfortunately, it went a little faster than Ryebread would have liked...

The lazy days of summer

The weather has been so great this summer and it's hard to remain cooped up in the house. So Rye and I ventured out to Toy R Us this weekend and got him a little pool he could enjoy on the deck. He isn't a huge fan of bath time, but he's more easily swayed when the "bath" is outside in the sun, with all his fun toys and doesn't require any scrubbing or rinsing!

Happy 4th of July!

There was great weather for the 4th this year and the Bachman clan got invited to a picnic at Chris and Maureen's. Grandma Savacool was sure to snap a picture of us all before we headed out to party (Rye's shirt say's "Freedom is cool").
Ryan did great at the party - even flirted with a few girls and got to play with some puppies. He didn't make it up long enough to see the fireworks, but in a few more years, I'm sure he'll be a trooper and enjoy the show with the rest of us!

Ryan's Fauxhawk

As long as the weather cooperates (and it has been ridiculously cooperative this year!) Ryan spends a majority of his time at daycare playing outside. This requires daily (and I'm sure multiple) applications of sunscreen on Ryebread, along with the several other squirmy kids in his room. Most of the times when we pick him up at the end of the day, he has disheveled bed-head looking hair. But occasionally, to keep things interesting I'm sure, Rye's teachers get creative and give him a killer fauxhawk. Below is the end result.
